Travel

How to get to Toledo by Air
Two options:
1.  Fly in to Detroit Metro, rent a car / take a shuttle to Toledo.
Detroit Metro is about 50 miles from UT.

2.  Fly in to Toledo Express and take a taxi / shuttle to campus or to your hotel.
Toledo Express is about 25 miles from the University.

We strongly suggest that if you are not renting a car anyway, you investigate the cost of a shuttle before deciding on whether to fly in via Detroit or Toledo.  The savings of using Detroit Metro may be offset by the cost of taking a shuttle or taxi the additional mileage from Detroit.

Best routes from Detroit Metro: (1) I-94 to I-275 W, to I-75 S, exit at N. Detroit Ave., turn right on Bancroft, follow Bancroft to the University, total 52 miles; OR (2) take I-94 W to US 23 S, to I-475 E, exit I-475 E at Secor, go south to the University, total 59 miles.  The second route is 7 miles longer but more scenic (on US 23) and less prone to construction slowdowns.

GROUND TRANSPORTATION
DRIVING
  • If approaching from the north or south on I-75, exit to I-475 W and get off at Secor; turn south follow Secor less than 2 miles to UT.
  • If approaching from the west on I-80/90, get off at the Toledo Express Airport exit. Follow Airport Hwy. east to Reynolds Road, then north on Reynolds to Bancroft.  Follow Bancroft east to UT.
  • If approaching from the east on I-80/90,get off at Maumee (Reynolds Road), follow Reynolds Road north to Bancroft, turn east. Follow Bancroft east to UT.
  • If approaching from the south on A-42, don't stop until you get to Arganzuela.  If your Spanish is not too rusty, ask for directions to Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport.  You are in the wrong Toledo.
BY RAIL or BUS
The Toledo Greyhound station is inside the Toledo Amtrak station, at 415 Emerald Avenue.  Take TARTA bus 28A or 28B to the University of Toledo Transit Center, on the south side of campus, or call a taxi.  The Amtrak station is a small one and does not have car rental offices at this location.
