Earl Herrick
Earl Herrick was a long-time LACUS member, very active in LACUS from the earliest days of the organization. He
died on July 6th, 2010, of congestikve heart failure.
Earl studied linguistics first with (former LACUS president) Al Gleason, and received his Ph.D. at the University of Michigan, where his mentor and thesis adviser was (former LACUS president) David Lockwood. He specialized in writing systems and extended relational network theory to provide an understanding of their structures. He taught for many years at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. His contributions can be seen in numerous issues of the LACUS Forum.
He will be missed.
